Orientation

Overview:

This active coaching community is for people who are having ongoing difficulties in their marriage that are leading to (or already resulted in) feelings of resentment, distrust, overwhelm and/or disconnection.  You and your partner may have tried common advice, suggestions or products from popular specialists such as John Gottman, and even marriage therapy, but to no avail.

In short, one or both of your are "stuck" and, just like getting the lid off of a stuck pickle jar, you've got to use more force (which means you might also have to get stronger) and some finesse (which means you probably have to learn some new skills).

This community includes three prongs to help you:

  1. Live Coaching.  This is a chance for you to work with me live and 1:1 on video during a group call for highly personal and interactive support, direction and coaching.  These video calls will be scheduled and invitations will be sent; you'll need to RSVP in order to join.
  2. Asynchronous Coaching.  Get advice and answers to your questions anytime.
  3. Training.  I provide access to multiple courses as part of your membership which you can go through at your own pace, and also provide new training right in the discussion channel multiple times per month.

You don't need to complete all of the included courses before posting questions, but I do encourage you to go through the courses as soon as you can because the training they provide will allow you ask questions which are more specific and get answers which are more powerful.  The lessons go beyond "knowledge" and include multiple exercises designed to actually grow your skills.

Navigation Panel:

The community page has a navigation panel on the left.  Here you'll find:

  • Reclaim Your Power: Start here!  This is a full training to help you step into your power.  While good for everyone, it's critical for those who are feeling resentful, overwhelmed, that they've been carrying their partner, take advantage of, and/or are considering divorce.
  • Discussion: this is where you go interact with me and the community to ask questions, get answers, see weekly trainings and notifications about upcoming coaching calls.
  • Meetups: this is a calendar where you can see the upcoming schedule of live coaching calls.
  • Marriage Magic: This is a full course on my approach to creating and maintaining a marriage rich in connection, collaboration and intimacy.
  • Key Concepts: This is a quick reference for the concepts I discuss in the Marriage Magic course.
  • Release Resentment: This is an easy-access exercise
  • Resolving Conflicts: This is a quick access overview of how to resolve conflicts, especially when you're dealing with chronic defensiveness.
  • Bedroom Issues: This is a quick access overview of how to overcome "dead bedroom" and libido-mismatch situations, as well as discussing medical and physiologic conditions to watch out for.

Community Guidelines

Channels:

There are two channels for posts: 'Discussion' and 'Support'.  Everything around marriage and personal development should go in 'Discussion', everything else should go in 'Support'.

Etiquette:

This is a community for coaching and support.  No name-calling, bullying, or derogatory comments will be tolerated.

Please keep posts related to the topics at hand: marriage and personal development.

Posts promoting businesses or soliciting services are not permitted except with the express permission of the community owner (Guy Ardito).  Please make requests for exemptions in the 'Support' channel.  :)

Posting format:

Please use carriage-returns, commas and periods.  It can be easy to create run-on sentences and giant blocks of text (especially if you're writing on your phone), but this makes it very difficult to read for myself (and I want to give you feedback and coaching on your posts), and your fellow members.  As a rule of thumb:  a paragraph shouldn't be more than 5 lines and definitely not more than 10 lines long.

If your paragraphs are longer than that then I might not read or respond.  Really.

Also, your sentences shouldn't be more than 10 or 15 words long.  At that point you need a comma, semicolon or period.  Again, if your sentences are longer than that then I might not read or respond.  Really.

If you just want to rant please prefix your post with '#RANT'; this will give all of us a heads-up as to what to expect.

Hashtags:

Including certain hashtags in your post will make it easier for me (and others) to search based on specific topics.  Please use the following hashtags as appropriate:

#ADHD  #Fights  #Bedroom  #Frustration
